Who are we?
Worthing and District Scope was first formed in 1965 by a group of parents with children with cerebral palsy, their friends and a local Councillor. In 1968 it took over the lease of a bungalow in Pavilion Road , Worthing , and a Day Centre was opened. This building now houses day services for adults with cerebral palsy and associated disorders, and continues to provide the administrative base for all Worthing and District Scope's activities.
The organisation provides support to individuals and families whose lives are affected by cerebral palsy, living in the Worthing District and surrounding area.
Our beliefs are:
* That every individual has a right to control his or her own life, and to share in the opportunities, enjoyment and challenges of every day life.
* That care and concern for each and every person, and respect for human rights is central to civilised society.
* That people with a disability remain vulnerable to the attitudes of others at home, in the community and in local and national government.
Our purpose:
We exist to enable all with cerebral palsy and associated disabilities to claim their rights, lead fulfilling and rewarding lives, and play a full part in the life of their community and this country.
The extent to which they succeed shall be the measure of our success.
