Without the efforts and dedication that our volunteers give, Worthing and District Scope would be unable to offer its wide range of services to service users, their families and carers. Volunteers are important to us in most aspects of the services we provide.
Many volunteers work in our two charity shops and their duties include sorting and pricing donated items, serving customers, organising and processing stock, handling money and window displays.
Join our newly formed “Fundraising group”. Members of the group provide vital support to the charity. They provide fundraising ideas, organize events, run stalls at our fetes, provide goods for the stalls (prizes, cakes, plants, craftwork, books etc), or make posters and flyers to promote events. If you would like to join this group please contact 01903 522366
The Community area of our work is a developing service, and we need the support of volunteers to help us to start new initiatives that will further the level of support that we can offer to parents of young children, carers and independent adults with Cerebral Palsy. Volunteers for our social group, the “Saturday club” (child & parent support), gathering items for the Newsletter, assisting with the organizing of awareness raising events and people with experience of starting new ventures are needed.
The Day Centre welcomes the support of volunteers. Volunteers support instructors in sessions and are of particular value in supporting community activities, swimming, shopping, bowling and trips out.
We are committed to supporting our volunteers and to making their time with us a valuable experience. You will be offered an induction, a named member of staff to liaise with, regular support with the Volunteer Co-ordinator responsible for your chosen area of work, opportunities to meet with the other volunteers and take part in relevant training. We may be able to assist with securing a place on the accredited course "Certificate in Community Volunteering" at Northbrook College.
All volunteers who have direct contact with service users are required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, in keeping with current legislation.
